About KuHeal

KuHeal was founded in Nosara, Costa Rica by Kathia, a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner with more than ten years of experience. KuHeal exists for one reason: to help people treat their well-being as an ongoing practice, not something they only think about once pain or stress has already taken hold.

Who is behind KuHeal?

She has spent over a decade practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine, with specialized training in techniques including traditional acupuncture, abdominal acupuncture, moxibustion, and Master Tung acupuncture methods. Her approach blends formal TCM training with a deeply personal, attentive style of care. Every session starts with a real conversation, not a rushed checklist.

Based in Nosara, on Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula, one of the world’s five original blue zones, she’s shaped by the region as much as by her training. Living and practicing here has changed how she thinks about health, not as something to fix in a crisis, but as something to tend to consistently, the same way this region’s residents have approached longevity for generations.

Why did KuHeal start in Nosara?

Nosara attracts people who already think intentionally about how they live, their movement, their food, their time outdoors. Acupuncture fits naturally into that mindset, but most people still only turn to it once something is already wrong.

KuHeal was created to shift that pattern: to offer acupuncture as part of a consistent, long-term practice, supporting energy, stress, sleep, and overall vitality before they become harder to manage, not only after.
It’s the idea behind KuHeal’s approach in a single phrase: acupuncture as maintenance, not emergency.

What makes KuHeal’s approach different?

KuHeal is a personal practice, not a high-volume clinic. Treatments are personalized at every visit, based on a full Traditional Chinese Medicine assessment, not a standardized protocol applied to everyone the same way.

She works with residents, seasonal visitors, and travelers alike, adapting each treatment plan to how much time someone has in Nosara and what they’re hoping to support, whether that’s pain relief, stress management, recovery, or a long-term healthy-aging practice.

What can I expect from working with KuHeal?

Every relationship with KuHeal starts with a real conversation about how you’re feeling, not a rushed, one-size-fits-all assessment. From there, she builds a treatment plan around your specific goals, whether that’s a single session to address something acute, or an ongoing rhythm built around one of the Ageless Health Programs.

Many patients start with one service and expand into others over time. Someone who comes in for back pain may later add AcuLift for facial rejuvenation, or move into a structured longevity program once they experience what consistent care feels like. Over time, many patients come to think of acupuncture the

same way they think of any other part of their health hygiene, not something reserved for when things go wrong, but a consistent practice that keeps them steady. Acupuncture as maintenance, not emergency.

Common Questions

Does KuHeal treat both residents and tourists?
Yes. KuHeal welcomes permanent residents, seasonal residents, and short-term visitors, with sessions adapted to how much time each patient has in Nosara. Many returning visitors book their sessions ahead of their trip, so their preferred times are ready when they land.
How is a visit to KuHeal different from a typical spa treatment?
A KuHeal session starts with a real assessment, not a set menu. The goal isn’t relaxation for an hour, it’s identifying what’s actually going on and building a plan around it, whether that’s one visit or an ongoing practice.

Acupuncture as maintenance. Not emergency. Because living well for the long run starts with what you practice consistently.
