FAQs
GENERAL
Does acupuncture hurt?
Most people report little to no discomfort. Acupuncture needles are extremely thin, and many patients find the treatment deeply relaxing.
How often should I get acupuncture?
It depends on whether you’re addressing something acute or something ongoing. Acute concerns, like a recent injury or a short-term flare-up, often respond within 3 to 6 sessions. Chronic or long-standing concerns typically need more, often 6 to 12 sessions or more, since the underlying pattern has had more time to take hold. As a general starting point, KuHeal recommends a minimum of 6 sessions to properly assess how your body is responding before adjusting the plan. Once you’ve addressed what brought you in, many patients shift to a spaced, ongoing rhythm, monthly or seasonal, rather than stopping altogether. That’s the difference between treating a single concern and building acupuncture into your maintenance, the same idea behind acupuncture as maintenance, not emergency. Your practitioner will recommend a specific rhythm after your first assessment.
Are acupuncture treatments covered by insurance in Costa Rica?
KuHeal does not currently bill insurance directly. Some international or travel insurance plans may reimburse acupuncture care, check with your provider and request a receipt after your session if needed.
